Thaksin Leaves Thailand Before Rival Set to Become Premier

Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra flew to Dubai on Thursday evening for what he said was a medical checkup, just days before a court ruling that could see him jailed and hours before lawmakers were set to pick a rival as the country’s new prime minister.
