On today’s show, trading on South Korea’s Kospi was halted briefly after a sharp fall. Samsung led the decline, dropping as much a 10% despite a 19-fold surge in quarterly profit. Futures point to a lower open in Europe and the US.
Oil edged higher after a tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz reported being hit. Bloomberg understands it was an LNG carrier owned by Qatar’s state-owned shipping company. Separately, Axios reported Iran fired at least two missiles at commercial ships transiting the strait.
