Kenyan Police Block Roads Before Anniversary March

Kenyan police blocked major roads into Nairobi and cordoned off parliament buildings before planned marches to mark two years since deadly anti-government demonstrations. More than 60 people died in the protests on June 25, 2024, many of them shot by police when they marched on parliament as lawmakers voted on unpopular tax measures introduced by President William Ruto’s administration.
