Gavito on Germany Pullback, NATO Tensions

Jen Gavito, Senior Advisor with the Cohen Group and former Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs in the Biden administration, says the planned withdrawal of 5,000 US troops from Germany reflects both frustration with NATO allies and potentially personal tensions between President Trump and Berlin over criticism of the administration’s Iran strategy. She also warns it may be harder for the US to absorb the economic fallout from a prolonged shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz.
