Sec. Panetta: US Is Trapped In Another Forever War

Sec. Leon Panetta, former US Secretary of Defense, says the US is “now trapped in another forever war” with Iran after six months of fighting with “no end in sight.” Panetta says Iran is essentially holding the US economy hostage through its control of the Strait of Hormuz and argues President Trump needs to find a way to open the critical waterway. He says US efforts to clear mines have not taken away Iran’s leverage as Tehran continues to threaten ships and use missiles to restrict traffic through the strait. Panetta says there is “no way to take control of this war” as long as Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz.
